Donald Trump has returned to office, and some are already calling for him to stay until 2032. After his January 20 inauguration, the 78-year-old signed executive orders withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and WHO, and restricting transgender women from female prisons. Declaring, “the golden age of America starts now,” Trump aims for sweeping changes.

However, some argue four years isn’t enough. U.S. Representative Andy Ogles proposes changing the 22nd Amendment to allow Trump a third term. “President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years,” Ogles stated on January 23. He insists Trump needs more time to “reverse our nation’s decay and restore America to greatness.”

Ogles’ amendment would allow presidents to serve up to three terms. “This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs,” he added. The proposal must pass Congress and be signed into law, but its future remains uncertain.
