The ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good will not face criminal charges. The agent has been identified as 43-year-old Jonathan Ross.
Ross is a ten-year veteran and firearms trainer. He serves on a special response team and has also led units for the FBI.
Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, was killed on January 7. She was shot twice while sitting in her car, which was surrounded by agents.
Video footage shows Good speaking to Ross just before the shooting. During the encounter, she told him, “I’m not mad at you.”
The Trump administration has strongly defended Agent Ross. Vice President JD Vance stated Ross has absolute immunity from prosecution.
President Trump characterized Good’s actions as domestic terrorism. Ross’s father publicly described his son as a kind Christian man.
Federal law creates a high bar for prosecuting officers, requiring proof of reckless disregard. With broad legal immunity in place, Ross remains free as the investigation concludes.
