Australian Landscaper Challenges Dress Code, Says Women Should Work Shirtless Like Men

Shianne Foxx, an Australian landscaper known for working in male-dominated trades, recently went viral after calling out what she sees as a clear double standard at her job. While working in extreme 40°C heat, she asked her supervisor if she could take off her shirt just like her male coworkers often do to stay cool. But when she tried, she was immediately told she couldn’t because it would be “distracting.”

Frustrated, Shianne shared her experience online, saying she was tired of being treated differently simply because she’s a woman. She explained that male workers regularly remove their shirts without anyone questioning them, yet she’s told she can’t because others might be distracted. To her, it’s sexist and unfair. She added that breasts are a natural part of the body and shouldn’t be seen as a reason to police women more strictly.

Shianne has worked in the trades for years and hopes speaking up will encourage more women to join the industry without fear of judgment. Her video sparked mixed reactions—many praised her for demanding equal treatment, while others argued that going topless at work still crosses workplace boundaries.
